Mental Forest Meditation

Begin to breathe with intention.
Pause at the end of your exhales, observing the stillness there.

Turn Inward
Turn your attention inward.
What does the inside of your mind feel like?
Be mindful of the speed of your thoughts, do you allow them to move too quickly?
Are your habitual thoughts productive and meaningful?
Are you aware of your emotional state at all times, regulating its role in your life?
Spend a moment breathing deeply and slowly, and meditating on the state of your internal self.

Visualize
Now that you are aware of your internal being, you may allow your mind to clear.
Awareness is all that you need to ask of yourself right now.
Allow your mind to melt into these words.
Breathe in...breathe out...pause.
You are standing in the center of a vast forest.
The air is sweet and cool, smelling faintly of wood smoke, evergreens, and roses.
From the gently swaying trees around you, birds sing joyfully out into the daylight.
Their voices mingle with the rustling branches which move in the warm breeze.
The winds have flown from across the world to brush against these very fronds.
What a blessing to hear the movement of the air and to feel its softness upon your skin.

sunlight shining through the leaves of an oak tree

Your body is shed in rays of golden light from the mid afternoon sun.
Breathe in, observe the sensation of the air as it enters your body.
Breathe out, notice the change in sensation as it exits your body.
Growth surrounds you, in oak trees and pines, in mosses and ferns.
The land extends way from you, the dark soil beneath your bare feet becoming stones, then river, then soil again.
From the center of your chest, a perfect, pure light begins to glow, flowing in a gradual rhythm through your entire body before shining out of the top of your head and fingertips and into the forest around you.
The leaves nearest are illuminated by your light.
You are an echo of the sun, shedding the world with your grace.

It can be this way forever, inside of your soul.
You have complete control over your mental habitat.
Soothe yourself with knowledge of the forest, rising to meet the sky far above you.
The limbs of evergreens bow in the breeze.
Your soul is peaceful.
Your mind is clear and open.

Lessons From Weeding

Everywhere, the weeds are pushing their spiny way out of the soil. They are going to seed, and their invasive growth must be fought back. There is a lot to learn from this experience, no matter how tiresome it may seem.   Lessons From Weeding As I kneel, ever-nearer to the soil, my eyes scan the surrounding growth to determine what belongs and what must be removed.  There is a mixture of invasive plants amongst flowers and grass, and I must take care to differentiate between them all. The weeds threaten to overcome everything in their path. It is my duty to hold them off for the season. In certain parts of my yard, I will be needing to do more work than just pulling by hand.   Some tangles and briars prove themselves too tough for my gloves. However, I move steadily on, focusing only on the weeds that I have the ability to remove.  It serves no immediate purpose to entertain the question of how to do what I cannot. I do not allow my mind to be caught up in ponde...

Rising Power Meditation

Your power is surging. Everything is falling into place. The change is coming. Can you feel it?   Sink Into Your Eternal Being Focus on the sensation in the center of your chest. Feel, in the core of your body, a pinprick of warmth. Visualize the warmth as a tiny point of white light, shining out from the center of your chest. Now, understand that the light deserves to grow, to shine throughout your entire being and into the universe. Watch and feel the vibrant light glowing, pouring its warmth outwards into your body, a pure sensation flowing through your torso, your limbs, and finally out through the crown of your head and the soles of your feet. You are light. You are warmth. This is what power feels like. Find Your Energy What does "living" mean to you? Do you enter consciously into each moment, ready to learn from both pain and joy? You must be ready to embrace suffering, to see it for what it truly is. Pain does not signify finality or hopelessness, but rather opportuni...
